Obama's Lies

Here's why we go to Newsbusters:

You come to Newsbusters for the reporting the American Media just won't do, to hold truth to power, and to point out when they look the other way as their
ideological leader does things like give an easy button to Russia, or claims that cars were invented by Americans, while getting economic advice from someone who can't actually make money.

And in hindsight, I almost have to admire Bill Clinton for how he was able to stretch a penny of truth into a dollar. Obama, he doesn't even try, and shame on you if you won't swallow his lies because like claiming Americans invented the automobile, it's only for our benefit. In his stem cell announcement Obama said:

"scientists believe these tiny cells may have the potential to help
us understand, and possibly cure, some of our most devastating diseases and conditions... To spur insulin production and spare a child from a lifetime of needles... But that potential will not reveal itself on its
own. Medical miracles do not happen simply by accident."

Actually, medical miracles do happen by accident, and it's funny Obama specifically mentions insulin, which was discovered by accident in 1889. Also discovered by accident; allergy, pap smear, x-rays, Quinine, the Smallpox vaccine, Viagra, Coumadin, epilepsy medication, and a little thing called Penicillin.

So don't believe everything you hear, even if it you hear it from a President.

We don't.

I read through most of your "accidental" discoveries. Most of them were the result of scientists looking for other things. Others, like the blood thinner, came about after the farmers found out that a certain clover killed their cows and that was refined for use by science.

Did you read the sentence before the one you are using? He is saying that discoveries don't ever come along on their own - which puts the line you are using in context. He's saying you have to roll the ball, you have to get started first even in your examples. i.e you are looking for one thing and find another. See the line before it from Obama "But that potential will not reveal itself on its own."

What most people who were not agenda driven would think of his statement is that you don't find a cure for a disease by tripping on a sidewalk. They may every well find a cure for Alzheimers while trying to find a cure for something else or while they are trying to find a way top sweeten tea.

Most people, I am sure most of the scientists in your examples, would say you have to try and they know these cells are a way to “try.”

In fact your argument supports stem cell research in that it may well be while working with these cells that they will find cures for things they weren’t looking for...thanks for making that point.

Very nice defense, Anon .... Seriously.

Regretfully, the guy can do or say little right now that will not be assessed and critiqued. Sorta as it was with GWB. Know what I mean?

As for the topic, recent developments in adult stem cell research have been most encouraging. Too bad such a critical field must be politicized, eh?
